Dear Participants and World-Changers, On behalf of JamQuest, I wanted to personally thank you for all of your effort and dedication in this year’s JamQuest Philadelphia event. Many question whether or not their donations make a difference, and I am here to tell you, they absolutely do. For over 8 years, JamQuest has seen so many miracles happen with beneficiaries in Kenya — and you now get to be part of those miracles. On April 8th, you helped raise $1400 to help support the Children in Crisis Program in the Philippines and Camp Hope for Kids. Both of these programs cater directly to children who are in dire need of compassion and love and resources for their survival. Thank you for having the heart to fulfill those very needs. Please consider taking part of the World-Changer 365 initiative! By raising a dollar a day, every day, you have the chance to capitalize on the amazing effort you’ve already displayed. A note from JQ Toronto Director, Noah Kreider:
I wanted to personally thank everyone for their support in this year’s JamQuest Toronto event. We were able to raise around $1,300 for the kids of the Gold Stone school in Cambodia! The event was a blast and showed how much fun and joy can be raised when a city rallies around a great cause! The money will make a difference, but the hope we are bringing to these kids is priceless. The money will go directly to children who are in dire need of compassion and love and resources for their education. Thank you for having the heart to fulfill those very needs. Please consider taking part of the World-Changer 365 initiative! By raising a dollar a day, every day, you have the chance to capitalize on the amazing effort you’ve already displayed. Thank you all for deciding to care! "We are inspired to try and do everything we can to help others in need. Whether big or small, it is important to put others before yourself, this was just one way to do it! Jack, a senior at Duke University, saw an opportunity to make a difference and ran with it. As a member of the Duke club basketball team, Jack decided to use one of their tournaments to raise $1,000 for kids in need. 11 different universities participated in this multi-day tournament. What's amazing is that Jack was a part of the first JamQuest ever back when he was 14 years old!
“Such a small effort can make a huge difference in the lives of these kids,” says Jack; “I know by going through JamQuest I can see the actual differences our donations are making.” The money that Jack raised will be going to help kids in Kenya and the Philippines! We are so excited to see future events at Duke and we are inspired by Jack's leadership to help kids in need! Jenna Brady from Norfolk, MA organized a 3-on-3 basketball tournament at King Philip Middle School where she teaches! This was Jenna’s first time planning a JamQuest event, and it was one of the best we’ve ever had! The 42 participating teams got to hear about the children in Kenya that need support in education and health, and how getting involved with JamQuest can make a huge impact. The tournament was full of basketball, refreshments and even a flash mob from the drama club! How amazing it is that we can make such an incredible difference for people around the world by simply doing what we love to do? So inspiring to see a school in Massachusetts come together to help send kids to school in Kenya! Kids helping kids! The tournament at King Philip Middle School raised about $1,800 to support Kenyan children; Jenna and all the participants efforts will go a long way to bring children one step closer to ending the cycle of poverty through education! Hanover High senior, MacKenzie Shoff, hosted her 4th 3 on 3 basketball tournament to raise awareness and crucial funds for kids in Kenya. JamQuest Hoops happened at the University Complex in Hanover, Massachusetts. Over 100 people participated , representing over 15 different cities and towns. This eagerly anticipated event raised over $1,700 dollars and saw participants from ages 12 to 50 enjoy a night of basketball. MacKenzie Shoff has helped organize this tournament since she was in 5th grade! Now as a senior in high school heading off to college soon she looks forward to taking JamQuest to her future campus adventures. “I feel so blessed to have been a part of this for the last 8 years. I am always amazed by how the community rallies behind events that care for the poor and needy,” states MacKenzie, she looks forward to pursuing a career in nursing. All the teams played their hearts out and raised a ton of money for children in Kenya! It’s amazing how much support we had from everyone around the community with over 150 people coming out! Everyone there had such a fun time and we raised over $3,000!!” -Noah Kreider (JQ NoVA Director)
“After taking the reigns from the Shoff legacy of JamQuest in Ridgefield, CT in the spring of 2014, the Ridgefield executive board was able to continue the accomplishments of Nick Shoff by holding the Seventh annual JamQuest event at the Ridgefield Boys and Girls Club. As a team, we were able to learn about how JamQuest is extremely important in helping the lives of Kenyan teenagers and we have developed many leadership and organizational skills as we planned the event! The night was a great success as we raised money and had so much fun playing basketball with the community! It was amazing to see all the support JamQuest received from our peers as they played three on three, ate pizza, and donated! We raised over $2,500! We cannot wait for the event this year and hope that it is as successful as JamQuest 2014 was!”
