I Decided to Care

I Decided to Care. By DJ Sauce.

There are thousands of reasons to celebrate every day. As they say “every day is a gift.” In the year of 2016, I started my own DJ business to help people celebrate each and every occasion, from weddings to birthdays to retirements, and all other holidays you can think of. It has always been a strong passion of mine to provide the right energy, music, and entertainment for any event. The business has been successful in many ways and I’m grateful to have the skill and equipment to keep it going.

Midnight celebration!

JamQuest caught my attention on New Year’s Day in 2017. As I was resting after a long night of DJing, I started to scroll through social media to see what else was happening on New Years. My attention was quickly drawn to the flood of posts about a New Years Party in Philadelphia hosted by college students and young professionals that raised $3,000 in a night of live music and dancing. I clicked a few videos and moments later I was listening to men with a big dream. Nick Shoff and Noah Mata painted a vivid picture of their goal to help a billion kids all over the world. Shocked by such a crazy goal, I quickly thought to myself, “Wow, JamQuest looks awesome! But maybe I can help out when I get my real career established and actually have money to give.”  But as I looked more into JamQuest’s stories, my eyes were open to a new perspective.

As I saw people with my similar circumstances, I was left without excuse. I saw stories of people using what they loved as an opportunity to bring people together and change the world!  They didn’t use their circumstances as an excuse, but rather a motivating factor in getting others to help. At that moment, it clicked. I had it all wrong. It will never be the wealth of one individual that creates the biggest impact. It’s the collective vision and action of a team and community that will change this world for the better.

Think of it this way: One person with $100 is great, but if you rally together 100 people with $1, your reach expands exponentially. The same amount is raised, but more people are impacted.

Then I realized…I can rally people together using my passions for DJing. I can present this crazy vision, ignite action, and have so much fun doing it! So, I thought to myself, “It would be crazy for me not to partake in JamQuest’s mission!”

Fast forward to January 1st 2018. I’m on the road home from Atlanta after collaborating with Nick and the JamQuest crew to raise thousands of dollars for their New Years Party. All I’ve got to say after my many words of reflection is that you can start today!

Live music at JamQuest New Years in Atlanta.

Decide to care and you will be a world changer!
